At the beginning of August we were able to spend a week in San Clemente, CA on the beach with Chris's family. We arrived on Saturday and the party started. There were 12 people in total, all in the same house. It was Chris's entire family, minus his brother, but including his grandma. The house ended up being more private and roomier than we were expecting, so it was great. It had enough rooms for everyone to have some modicum of privacy, a pool table, table tennis, and a hot tub (not that I was able to enjoy that). We were a short walk from the beach.
On Sunday we were able to go on a whale viewing excursion. We saw a ton of dolphins and even a blue whale. I will say that a pregnant woman on a boat is not necessarily a good idea, but it was still worth it. If anyone wants more details than that, my father-in-law accidentally got video of it.
Here are a few of the dolphins we were able to see.
On Tuesday we were able to go see the live recording of Conan. Chris and I are big fans and figured we should go see him. We made shirts for the whole crew in the hopes that maybe he would interact with us. We played off of my being pregnant and his nickname Coco. It was cool to see a live taping. We got front row seats but Katie and her boyfriend Turner ended up with the best seats. Unknown to us, Steve Carrell was on the show that night and he approached Katie and Turner to measure the distance from his seat on the stage and the audience. We were so jealous, but glad we were in the audience at all. You can see us in the background when he comes out to the audience, so we were on television. It was a fun day for the young adults of the group.
Most days we spent the day on the beach riding the waves. The whole family, except me, geared up in wet suits, grabbed their boogie boards and hit the water as soon as we got there. I've boogie boarded before, and memory of the wipe outs convinced me that it wasn't a good idea 5 months pregnant. Chris was rarely out of the water. He was in the water for 3-5 hours every day.

One of the days I was bored of sitting on the beach and reading and decided that I could handle the baby waves or the aftermath of the waves on a boogie board where I couldn't wipe out. So I headed out to join in the fun. Maybe next year I'll get to ride some real ones. Here is one of the few pics of me riding the waves.
This is Chris and his older sister, Jenny, catching a good wave.

Chris and I on the beach the last day.

The last night Chris was able to get free tickets to the Dodgers vs. Astros game for all of the boys. So the six guys went to the game, while the girls stayed home and did a little shopping. Here are some of the guys watching the game.

We left Saturday morning and took a group photo in front of the house. Quite a group huh?

What a fun trip! How sweet of you to feed the dolphins!
Congrats on having a little girl in the oven. We like girls around our house. Your trip looks like it was awesome. My aunt, uncle, cousins are all in San Clemente. And my cousin is a captain of a boat that does whale watches and stuff. Can't remember what his boat's name is, but his name is Brian Woolley. Wonder if you were on his boat?
