In July Emilee and I boarded a jet plane and flew out to spend 12 days in Utah. We left Chris behind to work. It was fun to spend time with family that hasn't seen Emilee since she was six weeks old.
On the 24th of July we went with my mom, sister-in-law Lindsay, and her two girls to the Thanksgiving Farms to see the animals. Emilee wasn't too excited- I think she was too removed from the animals to think they were that cool.
She did excited when this little horse sucked on her toe for a second. I freaked out a bit for a second until I realized the horse wasn't biting her. Emilee just laughed afterward.
Emilee sat on the toy wooden tractor with mom's help.
We all got to ride a wagon around the farm. Emilee, mom and I sat by each other.
My niece Laryssa was thrown into jail. It was hard getting her to stand still for this picture. She kept escaping the jail cell.
It was a fun morning that we topped off with Taco Amigo for lunch. I was pretty excited to discover they still had their fresh strawberry shakes- so yummy!Emilee got acquainted with the piano and loved whenever I put her up to it to play. She quickly learned she was making the noise and created wonderful masterpieces.
Emilee spent some time with her Uncle Chanse, he babysat her a lot for us while we did grown up girl stuff.
Emilee also was spoiled by her grandpa Hunsaker at Cafe Rio. He gave her some key lime pie to eat- Yum! She didn't mind the tartness of it at all. I made it to Cafe Rio to eat twice, guess that will do for the next few months. The first weekend we were there was the Calderwood family reunion. We went up to Downata Hot Springs. Emilee got a ride in Great-Grandpa Woolstenhulme's walker. She didn't seem to mind the cramped quarters one bit.
Emilee and I stayed with my parents in their trailer. We weren't sure where to put Emilee to sleep where she wouldn't roll off or escape. My mom came up with the genius plan of the tub. We were camped right next to a bathroom with showers, so we weren't going to use the bathroom in the trailer. It turned out to be the perfect size for Emilee and since she couldn't pull up on things yet, there was no escaping.
We spent the weekend eating good food, swimming in the hot springs and visiting with family we don't get to see very often. On the last day there I made sure to get a 4 generation picture for Emilee. Emilee is the oldest daughter, of the oldest daughter, of the oldest daughter of Lola Woolstenhulme (I know, quite a mouthful). The picture turned out better than I expected considering we had all just spent the weekend camping.
The Monday after the reunion Chanse watched Emilee and her cousins while the big girls, Mom, Lindsay, J'see and I, did a little browsing through shops and ate dessert at The Cheesecake factory. It was national cheesecake day so their cheesecakes were half price. Yummy!!
On Tuesday Leslie came down and all of the aforementioned girls plus her went to the new Joanns and then to lunch. We rested in the afternoon and then went to dinner at Olive Garden that night and went and saw People Like Us. It was an enjoyable day and evening with the girls.
The rest of the time there was mainly spent enjoying the company of the family and the beautiful weather.
When we were at mom's house Emilee spent some time outdoors, since you can do that without sweating to death. She was not a fan of the grass. I was hoping it might encourage her to crawl on her hands and knees, but she would just sit there.
She loved spending time with her Grandma Shore.
She also experienced a swing for the first time. She wasn't afraid at all. She enjoyed swinging.Emilee also spent a little bit of time in the hammock with me. Did I mention how nice it was to be outside without dying of heat? Oh how I miss that.
We took a few minutes to pose by the pond in my parent's backyard. It was hard to get a picture because Emilee wanted to explore the rock and mud around her.
We had a really great time with family and wish we didn't live quite so far away so we could share these moments together more often. We left Utah on Friday, August 4th to drive to California with Chris's family. We met Chris there and spent a week with his family at the beach. That post is coming soon.
