I haven't posted much lately, but that is because things are pretty simple. Here are a few of the highlights of the past month or so:
- While in Utah for Christmas I decided to see if my wedding dress fit 5 1/2 years later. After a little bit of work, and losing the padded bra, we got it zipped up. Success!! Who cares if I couldn't breathe, I got it zipped up. I had Chris take pictures, but I can't find our camera anywhere. I'm sure after a kid I won't get it zipped up ever again, so I will bask in this success for now.
- School is getting crazy with the State tests coming up. The English test is in 3 weeks, so it is crunch time for us. But on March 2nd, I get to start teaching real English.
-Conversations at school to note:
Student 1: Miss, do you have kids?
Teacher: No
Student 1: Why not, do you want kids?
Teacher: Yes
Student 2: When are you going to have kids?
Teacher: When I get pregnant.
Student 3: Well, are you trying to get pregnant?
Teacher: huh? what? Did he just ask that?
Student 4: Miss, is it appropriate for a student to ask his teacher if she is having sex.
Teacher: No
Student 3: That isn't what I was asking.
Teacher: I'm pretty sure that is how you try to get pregnant. Maybe I need to make sure he talks to a counselor so he doesn't get his girlfriend pregnant. (It was hilarious, and I was so glad another student called him out on it, so I didn't have to. The first several questions about kids are regular questions this year with my students.)
A couple of days ago:
Student: Thanks for your help, whispering- I'd give you a kiss but that is my girlfriend standing in the door.
Teacher: Not to mention that wouldn't be appropriate for you to do.
Sheesh, who does this kid think he is, Rico Suave?
Today:
Student (again): Miss, I still owe you that kiss, and my girlfriend isn't around.
Teacher: I shut the door to my classroom on his face. Apparently I need to have a serious chat with this kid. Ridiculous.
- I got hit on by a black guy at Walmart today. He asked me if I had a guy. I said yes, then he proceeded to ask me for my number. Huh? What part of I have a guy didn't you understand. I just walked away. To be honest though, he was trying to sell me a rap cd for $5, so I'm not sure it counts as truly being hit on. But it was entertaining. And Chris's response was even funnier: "U better get out of there fast and watch ur back going to the car." Really? I didn't feel concern at all over it. What a protective husband I have.
- School was cancelled last Friday due to a freeze and snow forecast. It dropped into the 20's and it misted all night Thursday night, so the city became ice. Chris also got to stay home from work. Nothing like a snow day in Houston, Texas. It was great!
Well, that is pretty much our life right now. I am busy teaching to the test, and Chris is getting ready for the start of the season. Hopefully we locate the camera soon and I can post some more pictures. Not to mention take some. If we don't locate it soon I am just going to buy a new one, which we need desperately. Hopefully that wasn't too boring for all of you.

hooray for fitting in your wedding dress!!! ya, I tried that over the summer and unfortunately, I couldn't loose the 'padded bra' after the babe so.. ya, there was no way to zip that!!!! I love your stories from school. Its probably annoying to you by now but I think its awesome!!! haha
Hooray that you found you camera! I'd have an anxiety attack if I lost mine.
Also, I'm totally weirded out by that Walmart story because almost the exact things happened to Elise and me! We were minding out own business walking through the underwear section when we were approached my a man who asked us to listen to his CD. Totally weird. Maybe they know each other.
I'm not going to lie it cracks me up that you tried your wedding dress on! However it makes me want to go put mine on too...we will see if I cave, since the last time I put it on I was 8 months pregnant it so did not fit, imagine that. Glad things are going well! : )
