Last weekend Chris and I flew back out to Houston to watch the Astros last two games. These were Craig Biggio's last games in his career. When he announced his retirement a couple of months ago Chris and I found a really good deal on a flight and hotel, so we thought "what the heck, it would be fun". Little did we know that a woman on our flight to Houston would receive a threatening text message directed toward the airplane which would cancel our flight due to a "security threat". So Chris and I spent too much time at the airport trying to figure out if we could get our money back and cancel the flight. The game on Saturday started at 6 p.m. and we had to be in the air by 1 p.m. if we had any shot at getting to the game. They weren't going to be able to get us out until midnight, which was useless for us. Luckily at 12:30, two hours after we were supposed to have left, they reinstated our flight. So after they got everyone seated we were on our way. When we landed in Houston we had to get a taxi and take it straight to the game. We got to Minute Maid Park at exactly 6 o'clock. The Astros won both games against the Braves that weekend. It was strange being back and staying in a hotel after the games. Chris talked to each of the three women he had worked with all summer. Since Chris left Houston a couple of people in the marketing department have left the company. Apparently Chris' name has come up a couple of times in the past week since the changes have been made. Too bad Chris doesn't graduate until April. But maybe something weird will happen.

Biggio received a standing ovation each time he came up to bat for both games. They also had record attendance at each game. They sold numerous standing room only tickets to both games. Sadly Biggio didn't do anything remarkable in either game, but it was still great to see him play. Throughout his final game they put in all of the veteran players so they could play with Biggio one more time. Biggio was truly a great player and the sport will miss him. It seems there aren't enough players like him anymore.
In spite of the crazy event at the airport it was a good weekend. It was great being able to see the players that we enjoyed watching play all summer. I definitely enjoy baseball much more when I get to know a team and the players by watching them all of the time.
